FL-192: Notice of Rights and Responsibilities Regarding Child Support

The three-page notice that comes with a California child support order. See what each page explains, then download the official form from courts.ca.gov.

Mandatory form · Revised September 1, 2024 · 3 pages · Attached to FL-342 or FL-350

Not legal advice. This page explains what the form asks; it does not tell you what to put in your case.

What it is

A notice with nothing to fill in

FL-192 explains the rules for paying back childcare and uninsured health care costs, how a child support order can be changed, and how child support works when the paying parent is confined. It has no boxes to complete and asks the court for nothing.

When it is used

Attached to the child support order

Family Code section 4010 requires the court, when it orders child support, to give the parties a document describing how the order may be changed. Child Support Information and Order Attachment (FL-342) and Stipulation to Establish or Modify Child Support and Order (FL-350) each say FL-192 must be attached and is incorporated into the order.

Before you file

Common filing problems to check

These checks come from the official form and instructions. They are not a ranking of rejection reasons; the court decides whether a filing meets its requirements.

  • FL-192 is missing from a child support order: FL-342 and FL-350 each say it must be attached.
  • The attached copy is not the current revision (September 1, 2024).
  • A request to change support is missing FL-150 or FL-155 and proof of income for the past two months, which page 2 lists.
  • Blank copies of FL-320 and FL-150, which page 2 says must also be served, are left out of the papers served.

Questions

FL-192 questions

Do I fill out FL-192?

No. FL-192 has no boxes to complete. It is a notice attached to child support orders such as FL-342 and FL-350.

Does FL-192 change my child support?

No. Page 2 says the order stays the same until a parent asks the court to change it, by filing FL-300 or FL-390 and serving the other parent, or until both parents file an agreement on FL-350.

What if the other parent will not pay back their share?

Page 1 says a parent can ask the court to resolve nonpayment, using FL-300 and FL-490. If you dispute a request for payment, the form says you must pay the requested amount before filing your request.

Where can I get help with child support?

The form points to the family law facilitator in your county and to your county bar association. Lexary checks papers for common filing problems; it does not tell you what support to ask for.
