Surgery centers on lien for California personal injury cases
Surgery centers on lien are outpatient facilities that host a personal injury client's procedure now and are paid from the settlement later. Through LHG Medical Network, the attorney or treating surgeon asks for a surgery center; Legal Hub Group matches the closest one by zip code and follows the facility records and bill to settlement.
We match your client to the closest surgery center in the network and track the procedure, the records, the bill and the reduction.
01
When surgery centers come into an auto accident case
A surgery center comes into a case when a surgeon or pain management doctor recommends an outpatient procedure: an arthroscopy, an epidural or facet injection under imaging, a minor spine procedure.
The center provides the operating room, the nursing staff and the equipment; the surgeon or physician who performs the procedure bills separately.
Most auto accident cases never need one. When one does, the facility bill is a separate line from the doctor's.
02
How it is usually added to a case
The surgeon or pain management doctor asks for a surgery center when a procedure is scheduled: one click on their page ("Needs another provider", surgery center), and Legal Hub Group matches the closest center in the network to the client's zip code. The attorney is told, and the center accepts the referral like any other provider.
03
Records and bills we collect
The facility's operative or procedure record, the anesthesia record, the discharge summary and the facility's itemized bill. These are separate from the surgeon's own records and bill, and Legal Hub Group collects both so the case page shows the whole procedure in one place.
04
At settlement
At settlement the surgery center is asked, like every other provider on the case, to accept a stated amount on its facility bill; it accepts or counters online. Facility bills are itemized by supplies, room time and anesthesia, and that itemized bill is what the request is read against. Once agreed, the attorney pays the center on the platform, straight to the facility.
Questions
Questions
Is a surgery center the same as a hospital?
No. A surgery center is an outpatient facility for procedures that do not need an overnight stay. Hospitals are not part of LHG Medical Network.
Does the surgery center's bill include the surgeon?
Usually not. The facility bills for the room, staff, supplies and anesthesia; the surgeon bills separately. On the platform each is its own provider on the case, with its own records, bill and reduction.
How does a surgery center join the network?
Through the provider join page, like any practice: practice type, California license number and office zip. A facility license is checked by Legal Hub Group before approval.
