A time to start a lawsuit, a time to respond after service, and a deadline counted backward from a hearing are different. California Courts explains that statutes of limitation vary by claim and can have exceptions. This page cannot select or calculate the deadline for a particular case.
02
Court days generally exclude weekends and court holidays. Calendar-day periods count days differently, and the rule governing the period matters. Rule 1.10 provides a computation rule for acts under the California Rules of Court and, unless law provides otherwise, moves a last day that is a weekend or legal holiday to the next nonholiday. Do not apply it without checking the specific deadline.
03
Mendocino Superior Court’s official e-filing guidance explains the CCP 1010.6 rule: electronic documents received between midnight and 11:59:59 p.m. on a court day are deemed filed that day; receipt on a non-court day is deemed filed the next court day. This does not eliminate an earlier hearing, emergency-filing or service deadline. Acceptance still matters.
04
Keep the receipt, filing confirmation and any rejection notice. Rule 2.259 distinguishes receipt from filing and makes the filer responsible for verifying the outcome. A transmission failure or rejection can raise a separate timeliness issue. The rule’s technical-problem provision has conditions and excludes an initial pleading; do not assume an automatic extension.

Questions
No. The electronic receipt rule does not replace specific filing, service or hearing deadlines. Some papers have earlier requirements.
Do not assume it does. Read the notice and the applicable law. Relief from a late filing may require a separate court request.
This guide and the free document check do not determine the legal deadline for your situation. A lawyer or court self-help center can help identify the governing rule.
