How it is done
The method depends on the person or business being served and the court's rules. Your server follows Vermont's rules for the papers you send.
Who
Process is served by a sheriff or deputy sheriff, a constable or other person authorized by law, or a person specially appointed to serve process; special appointments are to be made freely when they save substantial travel fees. Process served by mail under the rule may be mailed by the plaintiff or the plaintiff's attorney. Vt. R. Civ. P. 4(c) (as amended effective January 1, 2025) ↗
