Serving any person at least 18 who lives at the individual's dwelling house or usual place of abode; the rule adds limits for rooming houses, hotels, clubs and apartment buildings. Iowa R. Civ. P. 1.305(1) ↗
Who

Timelines
Our first-attempt promises:
Every attempt shows in your account as soon as the server logs it.
The court's deadline for service: If the original notice is not served within 90 days after the petition is filed, the court dismisses the action without prejudice as to that defendant or directs another time or manner of service; it must extend the time if good cause is shown. Iowa R. Civ. P. 1.302(5) ↗
Proof
Return of service. Sheriffs, deputies and certain other officers may make unsworn returns for service in their territory. All other returns, with limited exceptions, are proved by the server's affidavit. Iowa R. Civ. P. 1.308(1) ↗
Your server's proof is built from the field record of the serve.
