How it is done
Delivering a copy of the summons and complaint to the individual personally, or to an agent authorized by appointment or by law to receive service of process. Idaho R. Civ. P. 4(d)(1)(A), (C) ↗
Leaving a copy of each at the individual's dwelling or usual place of abode with someone at least 18 years old who lives there. Idaho R. Civ. P. 4(d)(1)(B) ↗
Who
An officer authorized by law to serve process, or any person over 18 who is not a party to the action, may serve a summons and complaint. Idaho R. Civ. P. 4(c)(2) ↗
Timelines
Our first-attempt promises:
Every attempt shows in your account as soon as the server logs it.
The court's deadline for service: If a defendant is not served within 182 days after the complaint is filed, the court must dismiss the action without prejudice against that defendant after 14 days' notice, unless the plaintiff shows good cause, in which case it must extend the time. Idaho R. Civ. P. 4(b)(2) ↗
Proof
Proof of service. Proof must be in writing, identify all documents served and state the manner, date and place of service; it is filed with the court unless the party served appears. A sheriff or peace officer certifies it; other servers follow the rule's separate requirement. Idaho R. Civ. P. 4(g)(1) ↗
Your server's proof is built from the field record of the serve.
