What it is

Personal service only

CH-200 records that the server personally gave copies of civil harassment papers to the person from whom protection is sought. The form says the papers cannot be sent by mail. It cites Code of Civil Procedure sections 527.6 and 1011.

When it is used

Who can serve

The server must be 18 or older, must not be listed in items 1 or 3 of CH-100, and must give a copy of every document checked in item 4. Then the server signs CH-200 and gives or mails it to the person seeking protection.

Before you file

Common filing problems to check

These checks come from the official form and instructions. They are not a ranking of rejection reasons; the court decides whether a filing meets its requirements.

  • The person seeking protection serves the papers, though the server must not be listed in items 1 or 3 of CH-100.
  • The papers are mailed instead of personally given.
  • Item 4 does not check every form actually handed over, such as the blank response CH-120.
  • The time or address of service in item 5 is missing.
